Horror Movie Posters I Love: Blood Beach (1980)

I’ve always been a bit scared of going into the ocean and I guess I have Jaws to thank for most of that fear.  Truth be told though, I think I’m more scared of jellyfish.  But what about the sand????  What if something besides crabs lurked in the sand????  Newsflash in case you didn’t know, but in 1980 there was a movie called Blood Beach that explored that very thought.  It’s a ‘so crappy, so good’ type of movie, but boy oh boy – what a poster it had!

She’s really selling that ‘Oh my god I’m being swallowed into the sand!‘ expression, isn’t she?  Kudos on the Jaws-biting tagline btw.  This was at the beginning of the booming 80’s horror craze where basically anything went. Including killer sand apparently.  Gotta love it though, and I absolutely LOVE this poster!  It embodies everything that was great about 80’s horror movies and it definitely catches your eye for more than one reason.  That’s a pretty snazzy purple leopard-print bikini by the way.  Go seek out Blood Beach if you haven’t seen it (screen vets John Saxon and Burt Young are involved), and I apologize if I’ve given you Eremikophobia.  That’s the fear of sand – see, you learned something from this post.

Ebay Find Of The Week: Rare ‘Hostel 2’ Promotional Poster

**Warning:  There Will Be Female Nudity Involved In This Post**

That warning up there probably didn’t turn most of you away, so if you’re still with me, let’s get on with the nudity!  Now, I remember seeing a particular promotional poster for 2007’s Hostel: Part 2 back online when the film was released that involved a nude woman holding her own severed head.  Aside from being strangely aroused by this, I thought it was a genius move by Eli Roth on the promotional front.  Problem is, the poster was pretty much banned and extremely hard to find in it’s original form……until now!

Thanks to Ebay and a seller named ‘sassysatellite’, you can own this highly sought after Hostel: Part 2 poster for $134.  I may have just lost some of you with that price announcement, and I would have to agree that it’s a bit steep. Maybe you can message ‘sassysatellite’ and have him or her drop that down to about $100?  Just because they’re sassy, doesn’t mean they have to be unreasonable.  For that price, I think it would be worth it considering this is an original concept poster that you are not going to find very often.  Interested? Then head over HERE if you want to purchase this Ebay Find Of The Week. Ok, I’ve teased you long enough without showing a pic, so feast your eyes below, and gentlemen – go grab some tissues.

Horror Movie Posters I Love: Ghoulies (1985)

I love a good pun.  And something that I love even more than good puns are slimy green creatures with bad teeth that stick their heads up out of toilets.  So, naturally it was a win-win situation for me when I first gazed upon the poster for Ghoulies back in 1985.

Take a good look at that beauty of a poster……because the actual movie is pretty awful so the poster is really all that we have going for us unfortunately. Yes, Ghoulies as a film is not good.  But dammit if those involved with the marketing knocked it out of the park, because the poster and cover art for the VHS lured people into watching this crap.  Sure, it’s an 80’s guilty pleasure to some and uncomfortable toilet paper to others – but you can’t deny the sheer genius of the tagline ‘They’ll Get You In The End!” along with the image of that green Ghoulie coming out of the crapper.  Speaking of crap and crappers, they rode that toilet theme all the way to Ghoulies III: Ghoulies Go To College. That’s right….they actually went to college.

Horror Holiday Gifts: Original U.S. Poster For ‘Black Christmas’

Less than a week left until Christmas, and I bet a lot of you have been procrastinating on buying those presents for your loved ones.  That’s where I come in to save the day!  But only if that loved one is a huge horror fan and only if you have $800 to spend.

Up on Ebay right now, you can purchase an original U.S. one sheet for the 1974 Bob Clark classic, Black Christmas.  Ask pretty much any true horror fan and I bet that Black Christmas is #1 on their list of Christmas-themed horror movies.  But did you know that it was originally released in the U.S. as Silent Night Evil Night?  And also Stranger In The House for those playing at home.

The poster that is for sale on Ebay is the original with the Silent Night Evil Night title and can be yours for about $800.  A moderately large price to pay for a slice of pretty sweet horror memorabilia.  You can check the listing out HERE, but if that is a little too steep for you, there are 4 copies of the poster for Santa With Muscles for sale at $18 a pop.  Just don’t blame me for the looks of disappointment you’ll get from whoever you give those to.
