For the past 6 years, I’ve plunked down my money to witness what I believe to be the best haunted house experience ever at Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights in Hollywood. And yes, I have also learned that plunking down a little more money for the Front Of The Line Pass is well worth it. This is the time of the year where I get a little giddy, as I wait for the announcements of what mazes will be included, because I know that Creative Director John Murdy and his crew will pull out all of the stops to bring the best detail and scares to the paying public. And the first maze has been announced and it is: Evil Dead.
Not the old-school, chainsaw swinging Ash version though. The new-school that pays homage to the old-school Fede Alvarez version, which I’m actually more excited about from a haunted house standpoint. I can already imagine walking into the musty smelling cabin. Then taking a stroll through the woods before the branches come alive and try to rape me and possess my soul to the point where I need to carve my arm off with an electric meat slicer. Good times. Point is that with this news and the rumblings that there may be an Insidious attraction as well, Halloween Horror Nights may have just upped the ante big time this year, especially with the scare factor. Stay tuned for more maze announcements and if you don’t live in LA or Orlando, I’m sorry – but I’m going to rub it in anyway.
