Hey!  Halloween is coming!  Do you want to find the one mask that will amaze your friends?  Do you want to find the one mask that will stupify your friends?  And do you want to find the one mask will instantly make you dance EXACTLY like Michael Jackson in the Thriller music video???  Ok.  The last part isn’t guaranteed to work, but give it a shot. Yikes!  Scarrrrry!  But also pretty fucking awesome.  Yes, that is a mask that is supposed to be zombified Michael Jackson from his infamous Thriller music video.  And apparently (according to the eBay listing), this is a Mexican bootleg.  Take that info as you will, but you should know from reading that part that you will not be able to find this in your local Spirit Halloween store.  But do you want one?  Then head on over to the eBay listing HERE and get your bid on.  Trust me, you’ll be the hit of the party!  Or you’ll frighten a lot of people, but it’s a win-win situation.  Happy Halloween!

Ebay Find Of The Week: Lot Of Vintage ‘Ben Cooper’ Halloween Masks!

As we officially roll into October (also known as Halloween month), I am reminded of my healthy obsession with old Ben Cooper Halloween masks from the days of past.  I myself, had a few Ben Cooper costumes when I was a young lad – so naturally now that I’m in my 40’s, I do enjoy reminiscing on eBay as I try to find some good deals to increase my collection.  Case in point:

They’re glorious!  So, so glorious!  Don’t you just love how the colors pop on these?  You can try and duplicate the style, but there’s nothing better than having an original Ben Cooper mask.  Or how about 6 of them?  The eBay listing that you can find HERE was recently put up and already has some bids (of course).  To make these even more tantalizing is the fact that they are in GREAT condition and come with the elastic bands still attached!  Very rare.  Expect the price to steadily move up on these, but to me the price will be worth it.

During these election times where we have to decide between a dumbass and a liar (up to you to decide who is who) for the presidency, my right to vote is now more important than ever.  Sarcasm overflowing there, I think we can use that right to vote on something more meaningful……..like what is your favorite mask from Halloween III: Season Of The Witch?!

For me, I give my vote to the skull.  I’ve always had a bit of thing for skeletons, so no surprise with my choice.  Not much of a witch guy and the pumpkin is too cute (except when snakes and bugs are coming out of it’s head), so for me it’s the skull all day every day.  The great news is that you can grab a replication of these masks over at Trick Or Treat Studios.  Btw, I stumbled upon a a great ad from an old Starlog magazine for the original Don Post version masks that you could purchase, with the skull being the cheapest which is maybe another reason why I like it the most.  Take a look below and feel free to share what YOUR favorite mask is!

Halloween Mask Hunting In June!

The greatest day of the year is only less than 6 months away.  No, not my birthday.  That comes in a close second place to the most anticipated yearly holiday of them all…….Halloween!  And even though we’re only in the beginning of June, why not start searching for that perfect horror-related mask to scare the shit out of little kids on All Hallow’s Eve night?

Now, if I asked you to name the creepiest horror mask of all time, most of you would comfortably say Michael Myers from the Halloween franchise.  I have great news for you if you did, because I found a new edition to the ever-growing Michael Myers mask collection……and here it is!

Oh dear God.  Well, that’s not good.  I apologize.  I guess it looked better the first time I looked at it, but now I realize that I was clearly wrong.  Ok, well maybe it’s just that the front angle doesn’t look that great and it looks better from the side?  Yeah, maybe that’s the money shot.

Why does Michael Myers look like Pauly D from Jersey Shore?  And it looks like he’s gained a bit of weight in the face which could be from sulking in his house and eating Butterfingers all day long.  There’s something I bet you didn’t know – Michael Myers loves Butterfingers!  Ok, we have one more chance to redeem this piece of shit mask, and that’s with the back view.

Well, clearly no help there.  So to review:  The front view is terrible.  The side view is awful.  And the back view looks like it was designed by Stevie Wonder.  Add all of that up and most likely, this is not the Halloween mask for you this year.  But cheer up!  We have about six more months to get it right, so stay tuned as I try and make up for this mess of a Michael Myers mask.

Review: You’re Next (2013)

For over two years now, I’ve been hearing about this “fresh” and “inventive” horror movie called You’re Next.  In my eyes, it sort of fell into the category that Cabin In The Woods and Trick ‘r Treat occupied, as it was another horror movie that was getting rave reviews from various festivals but just couldn’t seem to get a big enough push to get on the big screen.  Then it finally happened.  The animal masks starting appearing.  The hype train started rolling down the tracks.  And before you knew it, ads and posters and a marketing machine for Adam Wingard’s You’re Next were everywhere.  The hype was real, but would the movie accept the daunting task of living up to it?   Continue reading →
