I know what you’ve been asking yourself: “Why can’t there be a figure based off of Anne Ramsey getting her head obliterated by a basketball from the movie Deadly Friend?” I too have laid awake at night thinking this exact thing. But now…….you can get a figure based off of Anne Ramsey getting her head obliterated by a basketball from the movie Deadly Friend! Thanks to the online horror figure company Readful Things, of course.
See? I told you. I don’t make things up. But anyway, Readful Things has been putting out amazing product like that above pic for a little while now – and to be honest, I feel like they’re just getting started. The thing I love about this company is that they cover some obscure horror movies from all decades, and they also make sure to cover some of the best scenes as well. Like that guy who got acidic vomit spewn into his face in The Fly II, causing him to have a literal ‘meltdown’.
So you may be asking yourself…..how can I get some of these amazing releases? Well, therein lies the rub. These are pretty limited. Some only are an edition of 1. So you have to follow Readful Things on Instagram for news on the latest drops and if you want to get into some bidding wars, you can check their eBay auctions as well. Their online store is HERE where you can find the main drops, and you can also view some of their past work that is now sold out. Can’t wait to see what’s next! Maybe a figure based on The Cat From Hell from the Tales From The Darkside movie? Oh no, wait. They did that. Damn, they’re good!
Over the past few years, I’ve been a bit of a custom horror toy collector. Some might call it an addiction, whereas I call it ‘mind your own business’. So needless to say, I was pretty blown away when I first stumbled upon a company called Death By Toys – and more specifically a custom toy they did for the John Carpenter movie, The Fog. What made it so special, you ask? Because it was unapologetically just some cotton labeled as ‘Some Fog‘ on the front cover of the package. Some might say it was lazy, but I say it was absolutely genius. And from then on, I was a Death By Toys fan and started to build my collection.
Now as you can see from the pic, there is a Happy Birthday To Me kebab playset and also a ‘bunch of pieces’ from the movie Pieces. Again, a fairly simple (and I mean that in a good way) idea that is executed so well that it deserves all of the praise I’m giving it and more. Still not convinced? Go over to the Death By Toys online store HERE and look at some of the other creations and also look at the fact that they are all SOLD OUT. Needless to say, I’m looking forward to any future releases from this company and if you’re a horror fan (or just custom toy fan in general) you should be too. And now I have some spare cotton if I ever need it too.
One of my favorite resin horror-themed artists is Jack’sAttic, and easily one of my favorite purchases from him was his ‘Friday The 13th‘ video vame resin figure (fully attached to a mock-up Nintendo cartridge for added effect). And next Friday, August 19th, he will be releasing his newest figure ‘Headcheese’ in multiple variants!
I love the packaging he does for his figures. Each one of the ‘Headcheese’ variants will be limited (some more than others) and it has been announced that there will be a glow-in-the-dark version, as well as a version dedicated to the Texas Chainsaw Massacre Atari video game! The latter I’m most excited about. Oh – how could I forget the variant modeled after the old M.U.S.C.L.E. toys? Bottom line – you will have many to choose from, but choose fast because they won’t be around long. The sale date is August 19th at 12:30 EST. Go to Jack’s Attic’s page HERE for more info.
