In the world of ‘horror movie hair’, sometimes it’s not about how much you have on top……but how you work the other areas to compensate for those lacking locks that should be on top. Enter into this post…..REGGIE! From the 1979 Don Coscarelli classic, Phantasm. And if you have been living under a rock the last 38 years, here’s a peek at Reggie’s glorious hair in action:
Aww yeah! Get it, Reggie’s hair…..GET IT! Now, Reggie’s receding hairline might not be as prominent in this pic as his ice cream vendor getup is……but you can definitely see how the hair that he does have is basically having sweet sex with the air blowing to and fro in this scene. That outfit is pretty effective though, because now I want an ice cream sandwich. But let’s get back to the main course: HAIR. Clearly, if you’ve seen Phantasm and it’s sequels then you know that Reggie’s (aka Reggie Bannister) lack of hair didn’t stop him from pulling the ladies. And that alone has catapulted him into the class of Great Moments In Horror Hair History! Now – please accept your award and then promptly make me a two-scoop in a waffle cone, please.
I’ve been fiending some horrorcore lately. For those unaware, horrocore is a subgenre of hip hop that incorporates horror imagery within the lyrics and music. You can thank The Geto Boys, Esham, and Brotha Lynch Hung for being the trendsetters and giving us songs about killing babies and chopping up people with meat cleavers. Fun! One group that took the horrorcore baton and ran with it is Twiztid, a Detroit based group with over 25 albums to their name and a strong love for the world of horror. Speaking of which, they just so happen to have a new video for the song “Boogieman” off of their new album, The Darkness, that shows that love.
Reggie Bannister from the Phantasm franchise! He’s looking a bit old which is kind of sad, but still was awesome to see him pop up in this video. Makes me want Phantasm: Ravager to get here sooner than later. Tyler Mane, who played Michael Myers in the Rob Zombie Halloween movies, was also up in there, as well as were some creepy marionette versions of the guys from Twiztid. Oh but wait – it doesn’t stop there with new video and new album…..Twiztid will be hitting the road starting in May for their ‘Back To Hell: The Darkness Tour‘ and will run though the middle of June. Something tells me they will have some horror themes incorporated into their stage show, so make sure and go check ’em out!
Time to loosen up the belt buckle after eating 15 pounds of turkey and stuffing with heavy gravy and give thanks for a few things. And what am I thankful for? Well I’m glad you asked! Because here are my five things that I am thankful for this year. Continue reading →
Some things just define “cool”. And when I was perusing around Ebay for rare horror soundtracks on vinyl the other day, I came across something so cool, and I had no clue that it even existed. Behold! A limited edition 1971 Plymouth Cuda 340 replica car from Don Coscarelli’s 1979 classic film, Phantasm:
The bad news as I’ve already mentioned, is that this fine specimen is limited. The good news however, is that there are a few available on Ebay for somewhat reasonable prices (the cheapest I found was about $60 out the door). If you’re a Phantasm fan and are tired of waiting for a Reggie Bannister action figure, this replica car is the next best thing. So head on over to Ebay or click on the link HERE to take a look and place your offers. This feels like the perfect time by the way to put up the new Phantasm V: Ravager trailer if you want to see Angus Scrimm play The Tall Man for what very well could be his last time. He’s pretty old.
