If you know anything about me, then you know that I love promotional standees for horror movies!  Actually, a lot of you probably don’t know that about me.  It’s kinda like a deep dark secret.  But anyway, once in a while I peruse eBay and see what pops up.  And quite possibly the ‘holy grail’ of promotional standees appeared during my recent search!

Holy mops and toxic waste!  Tell me you wouldn’t be the envy of all of your friends if you had that greeting them at the door when they came over.  And how cool is it that it has an actual mop head attached?  Now – you’re probably asking what something like this costs.  Well………it would run you at least $250 (which honestly isn’t terrible considering the rarity of it), but the seller has a ‘Make Best Offer’ option as well.  Head on over to the listing HERE and snatch it up if you’re feeling impulsive and extra toxic today!

VHS Horror Movies I Wanted To Rent, But Never Did: Redneck Zombies (1987)

I grew up in a small farm town in Indiana.  For those of you who don’t know, Indiana is a Midwestern state with a lot of cornfields and rednecks.  Oh – and Larry Bird has a car dealership there somewhere too.  So naturally since I’m from an area that’s known to have redneck or two, a young boy who loved horror movies like me would obviously gravitate towards a movie called Redneck Zombies at my local video store, right?

“They’re Tobacco Chewin’, Gut Chompin’, Cannibal Kinfolk From Hell!”  With a tagline like that, how the hell did I never rent this?!?  Not only that, but this rare gift was given to us by none other than Troma Entertainment.  Now, I very much enjoyed The Toxic Avenger in 1984, so what made me pass up renting Redneck Zombies back when I was obsessed with renting horror movies?  I wish I had a simple answer my friends.  I guess I was too busy watching Chopping Mall for the tenth time.

I think it’s finally time though….finally time to raise above the skepticism that I hold and sit down and give Redneck Zombies the viewing it so deserves.  I’ll take baby steps first and watch this clip up on Youtube where the word ‘bodacious’ is used to the best of it’s word ability:

Melvin From ‘The Toxic Avenger’ Needs Your Help!

I’ve mentioned before what a huge fan I am of Troma movies and in particular the granddaddy of them all:  The Toxic Avenger.  So if you’ve ever wondered what happened to the actor who played Melvin, our favorite little tutu wearing nerd who transformed into a hideous toxic crime fighter, you’re in luck!  Mark Torgl has teamed up with director Joe Nardelli to document in mockumentary form what his life is like now, 30 years after he was mopping the gym floors on the big B-movie screen.  And they’re calling it:  Toxic Tutu

The duo and crew are looking to raise some last minute cash to film the big Troma-influenced finale and only have about 11 days left to do so.  Taking their cause to Indigogo to help out the project is good news for you, because all donation amounts will get you a little something!  Everything from autographs to associate producer credits.  And no amount is too small at this point, so head over to the project page HERE and donate whatever you can and watch the teaser trailer while you’re at it!
