I’ve got a smile on my face this morning and no, it’s not just because I had a dream last night that a hamburger was eating me….it’s because one of my favorite horror/comedies from my childhood is finally making it’s way to Blu-Ray/DVD! Yes folks, the 1986 b-movie schlock fest TerrorVision is coming! No longer do you have to worry about transferring that $25 used copy you bought from Amazon to DVD. Now you can own it! Only problem is, I’m not sure when, but what I am sure of is that Scream Factory will be releasing it, along with the subpar 1988 killer cockroach flick, The Nest.
For those of you not familiar (shame on you!), here’s a quick breakdown of the plot for TerrorVision: A civilization on a distant planet has found a way to solve its garbage problem by turning it into energy and beaming it into outer space. A flaw in this system is found when the signal is accidentally picked up on Earth by a family’s home satellite dish. While this would ordinarily be just another mess, this particular transmission contains a hungry trash monster! Only young Sherman Putterman has any clue what is going on, but nobody will believe him. Is there any hope for Earth?
Yes, the kid’s name is Sherman Putterman. And yes, TerrorVision has quite possibly the best theme song ever in a horror movie. Add to those facts that genre actor Gerrit Graham is in the mix, and you have a horror movie that can’t lose! Stay tuned to Scream Factory’s Facebook page here and sooner than you think, you’ll be enjoying the Putterman’s and their kooky trash monster in Blu-Ray/DVD glory!
