Things That I’m Thankful For This Year!

I figured that I should probably write something before my entire body is feeling the effects of the tryptophan.  So yes, it’s time for another Thanksgiving and another year of giving my readers a few things that I’m thankful for in 2017.  So put down your third piece of pumpkin pie and let me grab your attention for a minute.

I Am Thankful That Everyone Has Pretty Much Stopped Talking About IT!

Now don’t get me wrong.  I did like the IT remake.  And I more than appreciate the fact that it became the highest grossing horror movie of all time.  But maybe it’s because I had just read the book before I saw the movie.  Or maybe it’s because I’m an old head that enjoys the original 1990 movie a little more than I should.  But dammit if I couldn’t understand why people were going to see this new version six or seven times in the theater.  I just felt like the hype was built up waaaaay too much.  And I’m not ashamed to admit that I’m thankful that people have finally kind of stopped talking about it.  I have about a year and a half to exhale before the sequel talks ramp up, and then it’ll be full blown Pennywise madness again.  I think this post needs more CGI btw.

I Am Thankful That A Horror Movie Might Get Some Oscar Recognition Next Year!

Is it cliche to say that Get Out was my favorite horror movie of the year so far?  It’s a rare film that doesn’t feel ‘cheap’ when I say that.  It has competition with Raw (a brilliant French horror film) from me, but overall there isn’t much to not like about Get Out.  It’s a Twilight Zone episode on steroids.  It’s smart, funny, has great performances, a great score/soundtrack, and it’s even better after multiple viewings.  So it’s not a surprise that the Oscar buzz has been building, especially since it’s gloriously positive reviews and huge box office take.  So I’m pulling for Get Out – and it would be nice to see a horror movie get some credit that it deserves from the stuffy snobs that usually vote on these award shows, right?

I Am Thankful For My ‘Dirty Horror’ Instagram Followers!

Wait, what’s this?  Self promotion?  Well, kind of.  But anyway, if you didn’t know – I do have a Dirty Horror Instagram page where I post up borderline meaningless horror-related stuff.  You can check it out HERE.  But the point of this portion of the post is not to continuously pat myself on the back, but to pat all of my current (and future) IG followers on their backs!  So yes – pat, pat, pat, pat, pat and all that.  It’s because of you guys that I’ll be doing more giveaways soon and I’ll try and keep posting pics when I can, but kudos to you for being full of tons of horror awesomeness.  Better than being full of shit.  Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
