Review: XX (2017)

Anthology films are like a box of chocolates…..you never know what you’re going to get. Unless of course you are eating a box of chocolates that has that little guide on it to show you what you’re going to get.  But anyway, anthology films (specifically horror movies) can be hit-or-miss.  Creepshow will forever be my favorite, but more recently the VHS franchise was the definition of being hit-or-miss as far as anthologies go.  Now comes along XX:  Four tales all directed by women that are intertwined with creepy stop-motion animation.  Will these gals go 4 for 4 or are we entering more hit-or-miss territory here? My money is on the latter unfortunately.    Continue reading

This Mini Figure Of The Troll From ‘Cat’s Eye’ Is Going To Take Your Breath Away!

Apologies for the lame ‘stealing breath’ reference in the post title.  But anyway, if you’re familiar with Retroband (The company that has made numerous awesome horror themed figures over the last few years), then you should know that they have an offshoot project entitled Deadly Delivery going on where mini figures have been produced of everything from the Necronomicon book of Evil Dead fame to Belial from Basket Case.  And coming soon……….drumroll please……….The little troll from Cat’s Eye!

Alright!  No word on what color it will be painted or anything, but I would be cool with that clay-colored version personally.  This was posted on the Deadly Delivery Instagram page a few weeks ago, so if you want to follow the updates then you can do so HERE.  On a sidenote, I really need to revisit Cat’s Eye soon.  It was always a favorite of mine growing up, and holds a special place in my PG-13 horror heart.  Stay tuned for more info on the mini troll figure from Deadly Delivery and make sure to hold your breath after you order it. Had to get one more lame ass reference in there.

Anticipation Alert: Tales Of Halloween (2015)

Halloween is only three months away, and I’m already getting all of my ‘required viewing’ horror movies lined up to start the celebration.  In 2007, the ridiculously good anthology flick Trick ‘r Treat came busting onto the scene and has earned a right into that ‘required viewing’ category.  And speaking of Halloween anthology movies, I’m pretty excited this year because a new one called Tales Of Halloween is coming out on October 16th (limited theaters and VOD), and if the trailer below is any indication – we’re in for a fun ride:

Early word and buzz on this is that it’s as fun as the trailer looks.  Comprised of 10 short stories each done by a different director that intertwine throughout, Tales Of Halloween looks to be exactly what we need to cure our Halloween movie blues.  And the fact that there are some of your favorite horror actors, actresses, and directors involved only sweetens the deal.  Who you ask?  How about Neil Marshall, Darren Lynn Bousman, Lucky McKee, Lin Shaye, Adrienne Barbeau, John Landis, and Barbara Crampton to name a few.  So get ready for Tales Of Halloween hitting select theaters on October 16th and you will also have the option to relax in your own home and check it out on VOD.
