Underrated Xmas Horror: The Children (2008)

Ho Ho Ho!  It’s time to spread that holiday horror cheer and put a little something in your stocking (that sounded somewhat dirty) to make you smile!  And what is Santa going into his sack (keeps getting worse) for?  Well it’s the 2008 British horror movie, The Children! It takes place during Christmas, so just go with it.

To be honest, The Children is a heavily underrated Christmas-themed horror movie.  It’s creepy, well acted, well shot, and has some stomach-turning violence and gore (some against kids, so be warned).  If you haven’t seen it, seek it out and enjoy it over a big glass of egg nog or some kind of ‘high alcohol content’ beverage.  Below is a clip to get your holiday juices flowing.  And speaking of flowing, the aftermath of this scene is pretty gnarly. ‘Slay’ bells ring, are you listening……

Hey! That Horror Movie Poster Has My Name On It! (Xtro – 1983)

Well, I took about a week’s hiatus from writing and decided to come back with a ridiculous post about horror movie posters that have my first name on them. Nothing but the best bottom-of-the-barrel writing here, folks!  Oh, but it’s not just any movie or movie poster that I’m talking about.  It’s none other than the 1983 British alien horror movie Xtro!!!!

See, my name is Tony.  And in the poster up there, in case you couldn’t see the large font, it says “When Tony grows up, he’s going to be just like Daddy!“. So naturally when I was younger and saw this, I got excited since me and the kid in the movie apparently had the same name.  And then I watched the movie and was less excited.  Actually, I take that back.  Xtro is pure entertaining horror movie trash and it should be praised for that.

Do you want to see an alien rape a woman?  Xtro has you covered!  Want to see a woman give birth to a full-grown alien man?  Xtro has that too!  In fact, the more that I think about it, Xtro has everything you could possibly want in an 80’s horror movie!  Including my name as a character in the movie and on the poster like I’ve already mentioned a few times.  Now I know what you’re thinking……How does a woman give birth to a full-grown man?  I wouldn’t leave you hanging with that inquisition, so check out the clip below to see!

Anticipation Alert: In Fear (2013)

Thank god for Rotten Tomatoes.  If you’re not familiar with that website, then you must think that I have strange addiction to smelly, disintegrating vegetables.  Oops, I’m sorry.  I mean fruit.  Or vegetable.  The debate will rage on.  Anyway, thanks to RottenTomatoes.Com for tipping me off to a little British horror flick called, In Fear.

In-Fear-Poster

Making festival rounds in 2013, In Fear is at an impressive 100% on Rotten Tomatoes and seems to be a home invasion type movie, substituting a car for the home.  Naturally, I love the poster because it stands out and who wouldn’t love a 100% positive review rating……but what really sold me was the trailer.  So before you leave this post, do yourself a favor and click below and hopefully you’ll be anticipating this one as much as me.  In Fear is scheduled to hit limited theaters (and most likely VOD) on March 7th.
