Lets Have Another Staring Contest…….
Oh no! It’s Scott from the original Evil Dead! And not “Party Down!” Scott……but demonically possessed Scott! His eyes….my God, look at his eyes! No seriously, look at them because this is a staring contest. Try not to be distracted by his suddenly grey hair. Or that blood coming out of his mouth. Keep focused and just think about how annoying his laugh was in the movie and that will make you want to defeat him even more. Oh wait – Ash just stepped in and gouged both of his eyes out with his thumbs! You win!!!!!!!!!
Monday Bloody Monday: ‘Olivia’s Transformation’ From ‘Evil Dead’ (2013)
What better way to kick the week off then with some self-mutilation, a needle in the eye, and a good head bashing? Oh sure – a delicious bowl of Fruity Pebbles would be just as satisfying, but watching the transformation of Olivia in Evil Dead from 2013 is even more satisfying.
Kudos to the sound design department on this movie for the sound effects of Olivia (Jessica Lucas) sawing away at her face with a piece of glass. Not exactly the sexiest thing in the world, but it almost beats the fact that she peed her pants earlier in the scene. Leave it up to a horror movie to make a sexy girl unsexy in a matter of seconds. But anyway, this scene was definitely the tipping point for me as far as appreciating and applauding this remake of the original The Evil Dead from 1981, which in itself was a big feat considering my love for that original.
Sunday Bloody Sunday: ‘Chainsaw In The Mouth’ From ‘Evil Dead’ (2013)
Here’s a little nugget of knowledge that will help you along as you go through the journey of life: Don’t ever talk shit to someone that’s holding a chainsaw. Especially when you’re already missing appendages and can barely walk.
Welcome to Sunday Bloody Sunday where I’m going full on gore this week with the gnarly ‘chainsaw through the mouth’ killing at the end of 2013’s, Evil Dead. I dug this remake/reboot and the ending definitely got points for letting the red stuff fly! I wouldn’t advise eating your breakfast while you watch this, but click the button below to watch our heroine Mia shut up that demonic abomination for good……
News Update: Evil Dead Remake Will Be Blooooooody!
If you were one of the five people that read my post about the fake Evil Dead remake trailer, then you know that I was already giddy about the deadite redo. Then we got word for Bruce Campbell himself that he thought it was “fabulous” and the effects were going to be “10 times better” (hopefully better than that toolshed scene in Drag Me To Hell….god that was awful….I mean seriously….but I love that movie so I can let that one scene slide). Now I didn’t know how to really read Bruce’s comments. On one hand you want to say “Oh wow! The original Ash loves the new remake!”. On the other slightly bigger hand, the skeptic comes out and his comments are filled with a little too much excitement (kind of like when you get some flannel pajamas from your parents on Xmas and have to fake it).

Well folks, now we get word from Sam Raimi himself, who along with Bruce Campbell are producers, that the remake is: Really bloody. It’s so bloody, it will make your head spin. I’ve seen almost all the dailies and they’re really going for it. It’s gonna be grisly and intense and non-stop. Ok – anticipation just got bumped up a notch past the Garbage Pail Kids Movie remake. Not only did he say that, but he also said that it will: Definitely have an R rating. Maybe worse.

So to recap – both Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi are fully endorsing and hyping up the Evil Dead remake, which if it sticks, is due in theaters April 12th, 2013. Now all we need is a big push and endorsement from Richard DeManincor who played the lovable Scott. Then we’ll really have something going! Stay tuned for more Evil Dead remake news as it comes in. Oh – did I mention that Sam Raimi also announced that he’s working on new horror movie script with his brother Ted? Whaaaaaaaaaaaaat??? (cue head explosion)

News: New Evil Dead Remake Trailer! Oops…..It’s Fan Made, But Still Great!
So….April 12, 2013 is going to be a bittersweet date for me as a horror fan. It’s the day that the new Evil Dead remake comes out (dun dun duhhhhh!). The original 1981 Sam Raimi classic holds a special place in my horror heart because it was really the first horror movie that made me say “Holy Shit”, and because I was young, I wasn’t even supposed to be saying “Holy Shit”. The tree raping scene, the pencil in the ankle, that annoying laughing chick, and of course Scott saying “Party Down!”. The Evil Dead was and is the perfect low budget gorefest horror movie in my opinion, so the remake has some very big shoes to fill.

So while we wait in anticipation for more news and a real teaser/trailer for the remake (I’m digging the new logo and font that popped up at Comic-Con btw), a fan made trailer has popped up online and it deserves to be shared with you! Whoever put this together not only has a love for The Evil Dead, but also a love for the directing style of Sam Raimi and it really shows. Add to that the fact that it’s even presented in the common “bootleg” style that we see nowadays before an official trailer hits online, and that just adds to the awesomeness! **EDIT** Turns out this is footage spliced together from Finnish rock band Lordi’s video for “Blood Red Sandman”. Sooooo – it’s not that original, and if anything, props should be given to Lordi for the initial concept for their video, but the fake trailer still has an impact and got some buzz throughout the horror world.
