Anticipation Alert: Jeepers Creepers 3

Well, it’s been about 13 years since we last saw The Creeper feast on a shirtless high school football team before he fell back into his 23-year slumber again after being captured by Ray Wise.  Not many thought we would see another Jeepers Creepers movie.  I for one, always loved the folklore revolving around The Creeper and actually thought the franchise had and showed a lot of promise.  Now thanks to Bloody Disgusting breaking some news, those who have been fiending for Jeepers Creepers 3 can rejoice!  Behold…….

Ok.  That’s pretty much a perfect poster.  So if that’s any indication for what we’ll get with this sequel then count me all the way in.  In my opinion, we need a horror movie like Jeepers Creepers 3 right now.  It would be a welcome breath of fresh air amidst all of the humdrum possession and found footage movies that are saturating the horror genre right now.  A good old fashioned creature flick that hopefully will not succumb to the pressures of using tons of CGI, which is more the norm than not nowadays.

For those interested, yes Victor Salva is back as writer/director and Jonathan Breck will be returning to his role as The Creeper.  Is it ironic that Victor Salva created a character called The Creeper btw?  Anyway – Jeepers Creepers 3 will be starting production in Vancouver soon, so hopefully the poster is a good sign that the wheels will be in motion more quickly than not.  I think we all have the same thing on our mind though after hearing the news about Jeepers Creepers 3 though – and that’s whether or not Justin Long’s belly button tattoo will be making a triumphant return.

Did You Know That There Was A ‘Candyman: Farewell To The Flesh’ Board Game?

Who loves board games??!!  And who loves board games that are based off of subpar horror movie sequels??!!  Well then do I have some good news for you.  In a random search for horror-themed games, I stumbled across this:

That’s right.  You’re looking at a promotional board game based on Candyman: Farewell To The Flesh that came out in 1995.  Now, even though I wasn’t crazy about the movie – I have to admit that this looks pretty cool.  Of course it could be a complete waste of time and utter horse shit, but at least it looks like they took some time on the design.  Here’s a brief synopsis of what it’s all about:

As you travel the streets of New Orleans looking for pieces of the puzzle to solve the Candyman Murder mysteries you have to make sure you do not become a victim yourself. To win, player must proceed clockwise along the streets of New Orleans and get to the Mansion with the key card in order to unlock the secret to Candyman’s power.

Not sure if this would be a game to gather the whole family around on a Friday night to play, but it definitely might be a game to get your friends together and drink heavily while you try to unlock the secret to Candyman’s power.  If you’re intrigued by the premise of the game and of the pics above, I have good news for you!  There is one up for sale on Ebay HERE right now.  I would imagine you might be able to walk away with it for no more than $50.  A small price to pay for an enjoyable piece of horror memorabilia.  Oh that’s right – I don’t know if it’s enjoyable or not.  Forgot I said it could be utter horse shit.  Up to you to take the gamble I guess!

Should You Buy Into The Hype Of ‘Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones’?

You know what I hate?  Well, besides parking valets who fart in your car before giving it back to you.  I hate these marketing videos that mostly go along with horror movies where they show “actual” audiences screaming at the top of their lungs, covering their eyes, and borderline assaulting the person next to them.  It always comes off as desperate to me, especially when you throw the night vision effect in and it usually does not hold true at all when it comes to the actual movie.  Enter in Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones.  Early screenings took place last week and the buzz is starting to build.  But is it all hype and no pay off?

If you look up info about these screenings that took place, most will say that the reaction was INSANE.  Yeah.  All capital letters, so you know it must be true. Only thing that would make it more INSANE is if I put it in bold like this: INSANE.  Now the hype just went up even more!  Not a huge fan of the Paranormal Activity movies, but I respect them and honestly brushed off The Marked Ones as a cash grab that didn’t really have anything to do with the previous movies.  And that was mostly due to the fact that Paranormal Activity 5 is coming out later in 2014.

But word on the overhyped street is that The Marked Ones answers a lot of questions from the previous four movies and ties up loose ends at the same time.  And those who have seen it say that the last 20 minutes are crazy.  Oh, excuse me.  I meant to say INSANE.  Could this movie be a pleasant little surprise for the New Year?  We shall see.  Until then, if you attended one of the recent screenings, watch for yourself overreacting in the inevitable night vision TV spots  that will soon be gracing your televisions.
