It’s Friday The 13th everybody! And what better way to celebrate than to rank the Top 5 unmasked Jasons from the Friday The 13th franchise. Yes, in every entry of this iconic slasher series, we get to sneak a peek at Jason’s ugly ass face. I’m sorry, that was harsh. We get to sneak a peek at Jason’s UGLY face. There….drop the “ass” and it seems a bit more kind, doesn’t it? So let’s get to it and bring on the best of the worst of Jason’s faces!
5. Friday The 13th Part 5: A New Beginning (1985)

Oooooh – started you off with a curve ball! Zoinks! Yep, I dig Scooby Doo type endings. And in Friday The 13th Part 5, we definitely got that. The whole “Let’s who you really are!” climax is eye-rolling for sure, but after all of the gratuitous nudity and gore that we got earlier in the film, who gives a shit, right? Well, a lot of people give a shit because this ending where Roy the paramedic turns out to be the killer caused outrage and still does to this day. But Friday The 13th movies are built on ridiculousness, so I salute this ridiculous ending!
4. Friday The 13th Part 7: The New Blood (1988)

Ahhh yes. Friday The 13th Part 7 – the movie where Kane Hodder first stepped into the big shoes of Jason and truly made him a badass. We’re talking unmaskings here though, and this particular unmasking is pretty startling when it happens. I wasn’t really on board with all of the psychic nonsense brought forth in this sequel, but when Tina used her telepathic abilities to rip Jason’s mask off, it was a pretty cool moment. And what was underneath that stinky mask was definitely more zombie-like, continuing what Jason looked like in Part 6. Not necessarily scary to me, but the makeup is impressive, so fuck it – it deserves to be in the Top 5.
3. Friday The 13th Part 4: The Final Chapter (1984)

After stepping away from Part 2 and 3, Tom Savini returned in Friday The 13th Part 4 to give us probably the best FX and make up in the series. I love the ending to this one because there is some actual suspense, and when Jason’s mask is knocked off with a machete, the Tom Savini makeup ends up really being the star. Especially when his ugly mug slides down on the machete in the floor. That’s gotta hurt!
2. Friday The 13th Part 3 (1982)

Yikes. That shit still gives me the creeps. As I’ve mentioned before, the “dream ending” to Friday The 13th part 3 will always freak me out. But before that, when Jason lifts his mask in the barn to show Chris who he is (he attacked her when she was younger), it’s a great moment and I dug the makeup and overall look that they gave him. This sequel and Part 4 are probably my favorites in the franchise as a whole, and being that he recently passed away, I have to give respect to Richard Brooker who played Jason here. Great presence and a great ugly face.
1. Friday The 13th Part 2 (1981)

Might catch some flack for this, but I always liked Hillbilly Jason. And Friday The 13th Part 2 gave us our first quick look at him when he busts through the window at the end of the movie to snatch up Ginny (Amy Steel). Even though his hockey mask became his trademark after Part 3, I still have a soft spot for ‘Sack Head Jason’. His face though in this first sequel, captured what I felt Jason would look like if he was really hiding in captivity in the woods somewhere. And that’s why I love it, because it feels the most real out of all of the Jason faces. They tried to duplicate it to some degree in the 2009 remake, but it still shines brighter here. So congrats Hillbilly Jason, your ugly ass face is #1! (yeah, had to bring the “ass” back because it was the big climax)
Feel free to tell me what your favorite Jason unmasked faces are. Just as long as no one picks the pitiful melting sewer face from Friday The 13th Part 8. Ugh.
