A trailer can sometimes give you a level of anticipation, excitement and hope when it comes to a movie (see Piranha 3DD), but then turns out to be a huge disappointment and steaming pile of shit (see Piranha 3DD). So, when the trailer for the new anthology horror movie V/H/S popped up or in (slight VCR pun!), I was skeptical. For those in the dark, this is the Sundance movie (there’s always one) where people were apparently passing out at screenings. Publicity stunt? Shaky cam reaction? Pulse pounding horror? All of the above? Who knows…..Oh – before I continue, here’s a quick synopsis of the movie: A POV, found footage horror film from the perspective of America’s top genre filmmakers. A group of misfits are hired by an unknown third party to burglarize a desolate house in the countryside and acquire a rare tape. Upon searching the house, the guys are confronted with a dead body, a hub of old televisions and an endless supply of cryptic footage, each video stranger than the last.
Oh – did I mention that Ti West (House Of The Devil, The Innkeepers) is one of the directors?! Oh and did I also mention or shall I say show you the poster for the movie?!
Not bad eh? Reminiscent of the forgotten 80’s flick Visiting Hours (Michael Ironside, yeah!). So needless to say, I’m looking forward to this. You’re probably tired of me teasing you and giving you blue balls about it, so without further hype and build up, here’s the red band trailer for V/H/S (out August 31st On Demand/October 5th in theaters).
